Awake Bypass Surgery in Indian Hospital
Science has moved a step further, have you even imagined that a patient can be put on surgery while he is awake? More like the surgeon talking to the patient while the surgery is performed?
This had been made true in a Bangalore hospital in India where a team of doctors performed such surgery on a heart patient. The Wockhardt Hospital and Heart Institute (WHHI) is the one in question. Dr. Vivek Jawali, performed the surgeory on Siddharamiah as bypass surgery and an aortic valve replacement, he was suffering from asthma and other ailments did not permit the use of a ventilator and he could not withstand general anesthesia.
The world’s first case of coronary bypass surgery and aortic valve replacement while fully awake. And yet another global benchmark being set by Wockhardt Hospitals.
