Remove all vestiges of nail polish. Press cotton wool dipped in nail polish remover onto nail. Hold firmly for a second and wipe off polish. Avoid excessive use of nail polish remover.

Filing is done to smoothen rough edges in your nails and to secure the ideal shape. File nails using simple single strokes from the sides to the centre. File only in one direction. Soak your fingers into a bowl containing tepid soapy water.

Use a nail brush or an abrasive cleanser to clean nails. Remove all dirt that is ingrained under nails by using a cotton wool covered orange stick that is slightly damp. Dry your fingers well with a soft and fluffy towel.

Cuticles provide protection for your nails and must not be cut. Cream your nails and cuticles well.

  • Massage well.
  • Ease cuticles down and away from nails. An orange stick with cotton wool at the rounded end is ideal for easing cuticles. Gently lift cuticle skin from the nail and smooth it back.
  • Clean your nails using an orange stick.
  • Apply a hand cream and massage well.
  • Blot dry excess cream with a hand tissue.
  • Polish nails with a clear base coat polish.
  • Start polishing from the little finger on the left hand, working your way to the thumb. Then start from the thumb on the right hand and move towards the little finger.
  • Remember, base coat polish should be applied up and around the tip of the nail to prevent breakages.
  • Choose your nail polish shade. Ideally, it must tone and blend with your lipstick and outfit. However, since you belong to a busy age, you have to select a neutral shade that will blend well with different lipstick shades and outfits.
