GREY HAIR

Everyone at some stage turns grey. Some grey at a young age while the others later on. The greying process is a slow and gradual one. The first streaks of grey normally appear at the sides or the temples. This grey streak is the most unwelcome sign. Hair types, textures, genetics and even stress affect the colour of hair. Grey hair indicates a dificiencv in some part of your body.

Greying process can be arrested with proper treatment and diet.

• Supplements of copper, folic acid and B complex can restore colour and curb hair loss in some people.

Natural Remedies

• Sage leaves help to darken grey hair.

Ingredients: 4 tablespoons sage leaves

V cup of water

2 tablespoons of henna

I teaspoon of ground cloves

V, cup strong tea decoction.

Method: Make a strong infusion using sage leaves. Cool and strain. Add tea and ground cloves. Mix in henna.

Application: Apply onto hair and scalp.

Leave on for thirty minutes and rinse off.

Ingredients:         250 gms castor oil

50 gms olive oil

50 gms sandalwood powder

50 gms amia powder

50 gms coffee powder.

Method: Heat oil in clean karai. When warm, add sandalwood, coffee and amia powder. Keep stirring until oil separates from the residue. Strain and fill in a bottle.

Application: Massage well with this oil and leave on overnight or atleast for three hours.

Stop premature greying

Premature graying of hair can be postponed by using a strong decoction of black tea and one tablespoon of table salt. Strain and apply to roots for forty five minutes. When using this decoction, avoid using shampoo.

A ground paste made from curry leaves and sour butter milk. Apply on scalp for fifteen minutes. Wash off with tepid water. Use this once a week.
