Drying

(Continued from other hair care articles)

Dry your hair naturally. Drape a dry, fluffy towel over your head without twisting your hair for ten minutes. Remove towel and allow to dry completely. Be careful when combing wet tangled hair, lest you damage it.

Alternatively, you may use a hair dryer. It is advisable to avoid continual usage of hair dryers as it causes split ends. However, occasionally you may add volume and curl, or effect a spiky look to your hair by blow drying. Invest in a quiet, light weight easy to handle dryer. It should come with the following features.

a. Three to four heat and speed setting

b. Cool shot

c. Diffuser for curls and body and a wide nozzle.

Direct the air down the hair shaft or else you will be raising the cuticle and causing split ends.

If you possess long tresses, use your fingers to lift hair, and dry in an upward direction for a lovely bouncy appearance. Use dryer at a distance of 25 centimeters (approximately 6-9 inches) away from scalp. Do not hold the dryer on the same spot for more than ten seconds.

• Heat setting must be correct. Check the heat on the back of your hand.

• Dry each parted area and work your way to the front of  head.

• For a bounce and volume, blow dry against the direction of hair growth.
