Tanuja Chandra has been making hard-hitting films on female protagonists. With Sushmita Sen in the lead who has been earning rave reviews for her performance in the last few films and Shiney Ahuja who is hailed as the new star of Bollywood, 'Zindagii Rocks' sounds good and interesting. Music plays a pivotal part in the film as Sushmita plays a singer here and going in sync with the film Aanuu Mallik aka Anu Malik has composed some rocking scores. He hasn’t been quite in form of late with his predecessor Himesh Reshammiya dominating his place. But he looks to be reviving his glory with this film. Mudassar Aziz is the lyricist with a song done by Sayeed Quadri.

'Meri Dhoop Hai Tu' begins in the voice of Javed Ali who has been getting due recognition in the world of singing recently. Tulsi Kumar who has been heard most of the time singing for Himesh Reshammiya comes to support him ably in the track. It’s a love song that Aanuu Malik presents in a rhythmic and peppy style giving it the flavour of an item song. Sayeed Quadri writes the lyrics and does a fine job. There is a remix version of the same track with the same pace and arrangement getting more chic. Overall it’s an average score.

Zubeen Garg, Krishna and Sunidhi Chauhan take over the mike for the next number 'Rabbi' with lyrics by Mudassar Aziz. The track is perked up with jazzy rhythm, rap-n-reggae and is loaded with beats. The song has Arabic influence and will soon rise in popularity with due promotion. There is a remix version of the track.

Also the track seems to be inspired by Reshammiya and Pritam School of music. So is Aanuu Mallik taking a lesson or two from them?

Singer Anushka Manchandani with her sensual voice does another title song after 'Golmaal'. The song 'Zindaggi Rocks' truly sounds rocking in her voice. The track sounds contemporary and backed up by western arrangements it does make it worthy to be based on a live concert.

Sunidhi Chauhan comes in to follow with the proceedings. After all the fun filled frolic numbers 'Ek Din Fursat' eases out a bit, sounding soft and mellow. Soothing music ably gives the song the much-needed feel. So far it comes as the best song of the album. Mudassar Aziz and Aanuu Mallik are also in the best of their form in the track. Keeping the feel of the song intact with some English chippings, the remix also makes up for a great hearing.


'Humko Chhoone Paas Aayiye' is a love ballad accompanied by guitar with Sunidhi's voice taking you to a mesmerising feel. Another good song coming out of the album with extraordinary music arrangements by Aanuu Mallik. Mudassar Aziz’s lyrics are wonderful.

A rock track implying a live performance in a concert comes once again as a solo from Sunidhi Chauhan. 'Hadh Ko Adab Ko' is rock styled energetic song in sync with the premise of the film. The remix version of the same is also frisky and enjoyable.

'Zindaggi Rocks' truly sound rocking with the high charged numbers like 'Rabbi' and 'Meri Dhoop Hai Tu' but also the mellow numbers 'Ek Din Fursat' and 'Humko Chhoone’ surprises sounding utterly pleasant to the ear. Aanuu Malik pulls off fine and with the album Tanuja Chandra after ‘Sur’ has another sumptuous album in hand.

And do you know what's worse than Maushmi Chatterjee in a film? Two of them! And that, especially when she tries to speak in English, with the wrong pronunciation. Besides, one of her characters tries to be funny, and only ends up getting on your nerves.
